The Talladega was somewhat rushed into production. It has been said that Bill France wanted to see for himself that there were more than 500 Talladegas built.  The story goes that they sat him in a warehouse at the plant in Atlanta and told him they would drive the cars past him so he could count them.  I’ve heard that some of the same cars drove by him twice!  All Talladegas were built in January and February of 1969.

Maybe this is the reason for the specifications given to the Talladega.  In my opinion, it’s a nice car with a beautiful body but it’s no high performance rig! The 428 Cobra Jet is nice but it is definitely not a Boss 429.  The interior sports a black, vinyl/cloth bench seat, No clock, no tact, and shifter on the column. Air Conditioning was not an option.  The transmission was a C6 Automatic - 3 speed.  The rear end has a 3.25 gear with conventional axles.

The car was only available in 3 colors: Presidential Blue, Royal Maroon, and Wimbledon White.
